Our first recommendation is to meet Jesus Christ in the pages of the Holy Bible. Beyond that, an insightful look at history can be very helpful in making sense of past events and how they inevitably impact the future.  "The Great Controversy" and each of the following books, authored by Ellen G. White, is available upon request.  The most important issue for us is your receiving an inspiring book that can help deepen your relationship with the Savior!

The Great Controversy is a book about the controversy between Jesus and Satan, good and evil, truth and error.  Beginning with the destruction of Jerusalem, it takes us through the stream of time to the coming of Jesus.  Most of this book describes the controversy which has occurred in the past, but the final chapters, based on Bible prophecy, are yet future.  It is these chapters that are especially valuable to us.  Jesus said that, if it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived in the last days.  This book will help prevent that from happening.

In teaching His listeners about the kingdom of God, Jesus illustrated His teachings with examples from nature and everyday life. Thus, He connected the seen to the unseen, the earthly to the heavenly.  Christ’s Object Lessons is a collection of twenty-eight of those educational and inspirational stories.  Especially should the last two chapters, “The Reward of Grace” and “To Meet the Bridegroom,” be read and understood by every follower awaiting the soon return of Jesus.

Patriarchs and Prophets covers the sweeping panorama of human history from the creation of Earth to the reign of Israel’s King David. With unusual insights, the author describes the role of our planet in the cosmic conflict between right and wrong, truth and error. She describes the tragic rebellion that took place in heaven many thousands of years ago and makes plain that this ongoing conflict between Satan and God affects each person who lives on Earth. Patriarchs and Prophets shows how this conflict worked itself out in the lives of men and women in Old Testament times. It answers such questions as: Where did we come from? Where are we going? If God is all-powerful, why doesn’t He prevent the spread of evil and its tragic results?

The Israelites were not only children of Abraham, they were children of destiny.  Heroes like Elijah and Daniel championed God’s plan for the world but occasionally the chosen nation strayed to lesser gods.  However, remorse always followed and a pursuing Father welcomed them home.  Firm in His love. Firm in His discipline.

Beginning with the reign of King Solomon and continuing down through the Exile, Prophets and Kings tells this gripping story – the tale of kings and faithful prophets.  In bold strokes, it describes the raging battle between good and evil during a crucial period of salvation history. Through triumph and tragedy, it shows God’s love for a wayward people and offers a resounding call to heed the prophets they so often ignored.
