Jefferson County Winter Shelter - Season XII - 2016·2017
NEEDS LIST

Blankets: Clean and washable in a home-style washer. No quilts, please, as we can't launder them.
Sheets: Top Sheets ONLY (we have plenty of Bottom Sheets) and Pillowcases: Twin size ONLY
Clean Pillows
 
Personal Care Items: for Men and Women - Personal Sized Items are Best:
Deodorant, Hand Sanitizing Gel, Toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, lotion, soap,
Athlete’s Foot cream, Foot Powder, Women's personal care supplies
 
Shaving Cream and Disposable Razors: for men (and some for women)
Socks: clean and warm (no summer socks please) We always need these!


Hats, Scarves, Gloves: (All sizes)
Coats, jackets, sweatshirts: Warm, all sizes, (esp. L and XL) in good condition,
no broken zippers, no noticeable stains
 
Underwear: (must be new) for men and women, all sizes
Sleeping Bags: Clean, please no broken zippers
Tarps: All sizes, larger ones are best*
Tents and Rope*
 
"Some homeless people sleep in cars or camp out, and when the season ends, they all need camping gear”

Kitchen and Bathroom supplies: Toilet paper, paper towels, paper napkins (we really need these!)

Plastic garbage bags (Large - 33 gallon commercial)
Kitchen towels, pot holders
Laundry Detergent and Dryer Sheets
Pots and pans in Good Condition - Must be commercial grade with flat bottoms
Mugs:
for coffee and tea
Soup bowls

Other Ways to Help: Make a personal contribution to COAST (tax deductible) ~ Clean up
party in March ~ Fundraise (hold a garage sale, ask friends and neighbors to donate) ~ Have a house
party and we will do a presentation! ~ Donate a grocery store gift card to COAST for use by homeless
folks for special needs.
 
Share this needs list ~ Suggest COAST to local vendors, businesses and restaurants as a tax-deductible
contribution project, for either in-kind gifts or financial support ~ Buy a bus pass for a month for a
homeless veteran ~ Help us pay for one day's hot dinner, breakfast and a sack lunch for a homeless
member of our community by contributing ten dollars.

It's that time of year...it's Socktober!

Please help homeless feet stay warm with your donation
of new, clean socks for those without. Drop them off at
St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1335 Blaine Street or Calvary
Community Church, 82 Romans Road, across from the
 drive-in theater, both in Port Townsend. It's more than just
a "warm-fuzzy" feeling, it's a real pair of socks that will be
a blessing for both the giver AND the receiver !
