Operational Protocol Documents

The Oly-Comm Operations Protocol documents are a set of rules, guidelines, and instructions for
day-to-day operations of this Community-Service organization. The
"OP" documents serve as the
operational bylaws. Additional documents will be posted as they are developed.

No one desires a set of "arbitrary" rules, but when you have a shared resource, like a wide-coverage radio
repeater they become necessary. We tend to assume that everyone "knows" the generally accepted rules.
However, that could be careless of us and unfair to those who want or need to have a clearer definition of
Oly-Comm expectations and requirements. It can also create discord when repeater users offend others by
unknowingly breaking some unwritten "rule". Activities that may be an irritation or even a flagrant
violation to one person might not be an issue at all to another. It is probably best to be clear about
the rules we really think are important. It is not the intent of Oly-Comm to define every action allowed or
disallowed, but rather to provide these guidelines for proper etiquette and give some “breathing room” to
authorized users of our repeaters. Just as "good fences make good neighbors" every radio operator will
be benefitted as all adhere to basic, respectful, radio-rules-of-the-road or the "Terms and Conditions".
